Endoscopy
Endoscopy involves inserting a flexible tube with a camera into the body to visualize organs like the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory system, and urinary tract. It assists in diagnosing and treating various conditions while minimizing invasiveness, allowing for real-time examination and precise intervention.
Overview
An endoscopy is a medical procedure that allows doctors to examine the inside of your body without resorting to traditional, open surgery. This minimally invasive technique utilizes a special instrument called an endoscope, which is a long, thin tube equipped with a light source and a camera.
The endoscope is inserted into your body through a natural opening, such as the mouth, anus, or urethra, depending on the area being examined.
Light travels through the endoscope to illuminate the internal region of interest.
The camera captures images or videos of the interior, which are displayed on a screen for the doctor to examine.
Endoscopy not only allows for diagnosis but also offers a diverse range of treatment options within the body. From collecting tissue samples for biopsies and removing polyps to stopping internal bleeding, retrieving swallowed objects, and opening narrowed passages, endoscopy provides minimally invasive solutions for various conditions, improving patient outcomes and recovery times.
